Life Moments
One of the most rewarding points to our life on a guest ranch is the intensity of our existence. In many ways we are living the 100 year-old frontier nuclear family life that our pioneer ancestors experienced. Life is always "in your face" with real urgency. It might be the foaling mare, the struggle to maintain our hydroelectric power-plant, the battle to survive the winter storm, or any other of the countless "moments" we live.
When our guests arrive on the ranch, those life moments come in equal intensity to them as they "push the envelope" into new territories. We see city born and raised kids scampering up mossy boulders to the waterfall and swimming through creek water that is so cold it HURTS! Wild-eyed excitement is contagious when we share a child's discovery of a "warm" chicken egg fresh plucked from the roost, or when a timid rider learns proper "presence" on the back of a horse.
I honestly feel that my life and my family is blessed beyond measure with the opportunity we have of making our living in this setting. My thanks then go to all who enable our life here, including you, our clients and friends.
Here is one of our campfire games that's an exciting new challenge for many visitors: the lariat toss.

Hi Rosie! Happy Chinese New Year. Your horse "Max" is saddled, and idling at the curb in anticipation of your return. He told me that the ride at the beach was his favorite ride of the year! No, this is not another "Somes Bar Liars club" story. Our horse really do talk...with sad eyes, droopy ears, and tail wagging.
I enjoy my fancy embroidered Chinese T-shirt. It is all the rage when I wear it to the opera!
See you soon, Doug
